Now that we have the tech, how do we use it?

There is a pretty standard pattern in history where someone develops the technology, but someone else figures out best how to use it. The British developed the tank, but the Germans were the ones who figured out how to make it extremely effective and dangerous. The East developed gun power, but the West built better guns and were able to dominate because of that. If that happens here, with this technology capable of unequaled destruction (besides maybe the nuke, but for how long) if a country falls behind, it would be disastrous. So now that we have the technology, what is the best way to use it?
