The robot human superforce

Post  The one and only Gerson on Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:59 pm

To get the best results, it seems to make sense that we should use a combined robot and human army to accomplish missions as well as we can. Is this the case, are there reasons we need both? What would be the best uses of robots and humans in this combination?

With these powers combined I am... Captain America!

If there are ways to save lives in war, they should probably be used unelss there are drastic consequences, thus it seems unethical to not use robots. However, humans can adjust better to situations and I still say that they should be the only ones to shoot. But robots can process information faster and give humans a much better chance at success. So I think it makes sense to use robots for reconnaissance, information processing, and on the first line as long as they are remote controlled. But humans will need to make the decisions on where to go, and afterwards will be needed to win the hearts of the people so that they don't keep fighting against the occupying force, the only way to actually "win" a war.

Trickle down intelligence

Post  Chip Hermann on Sun Sep 20, 2009 8:50 pm

I feel that autonomous or semi-autonomous robots should be assigned any task that does not involve any sort of weapon, for the reason that they are just too unpredictable. One could argue that people are just as dangerous with a weapon, but there are things keeping us in check such as honor, courage, fear, and teamwork. Things that are all nigh impossible to put into a computer program. I feel that robots can make suggestions as to a suitable course of action, but people should always have the final authority to make a decision. While this isn't a perfect partnership between robots and people, it seems the most practical to me.
