Who's responsible?
If a robot does something wrong, either on the battlefield, in an industrial building, or on Mars, who do we blame? The programing company, the manufacturer, the person who pressed the command button, or someone else?

This is a ridiculous question and cannot possibly be answered generally as intended by the original poster.
This is far to complicated to be handled generally...investigate specifically what goes wrong on a case-by-case basis and then hold the people who are accountable responsible...obviously, it would be ridiculous to hold individual engineers responsible for any mistakes, but to hold an entire corporation responsible for their failing devices seems fair enough for me...if it is an operator error you hold the operator responsible, maintenance error you hold the maintenance staff responsible, design error the engineering company, etc. just like you would with an event like a plane crash. Also, this has the added benefit of incentivising (if that's a real word) higher standards in production that will make sure companies don't prematurely put out bad products.
I think it's common sense, no?

Agree with Taylor Swift, er, Peter
It makes no sense to have an absolute law dictating who gets punished for what mistake or error. It all depends on what was the exact type of error so we can ultimately determine what went wrong. Punishing an entire company for an error it makes does seem sort of extreme to me. But then again, it is their name that goes on the product which means they are taking responsibility for its successes and its failures. In the end, we have to examine every unique situation as it arises, and determine where the error occurred so the appropriate people are chastised, and the error doesn't happen again.
