When the exposure goes too far
What are the consequences of an increase dependence and exposure to robots?
For example, according to an article from abc.net, named "Scientist calls for robot ethics rules," Professor Noel Sharkey has been worrying about the "long-term exposure of vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly to robots." "Studies have shown that children prefer robots to a teddy bear and develop attachment to the machines; then they suffer psychological impacts from lack of human contact." The sales of robots have been sky rocketing lately, and yet no guidelines on their implementation into society have been considered. We want to experience the benefit of robots, but we don't want this to have detrimental effects on our communities. What can we do about these problems? Is there any limit to how into our lives robots should come? Is there any way to stop this or at least to prevent their increased involvement from becoming problematic?
