Counteracting an inante fear of robots

For some reason or another, a lot of people cannot cope with robots becoming a part of their lives. Most often have unrealistic expectations that develop from not really knowing what is technologically possible. When things don't meet these expectations, they are too skeptical to purchase them. Also, there is what scientists call the "Frankenstein complex" or just an internal fear of robots for who knows how many reasons, mostly because of the portrayal in sci fi (the things that go berserk and take over the world). Most Americans are just not ready to turn over their everyday chores to robots.

Is there anything that can be done to combat these fears? Or do we just have to wait for a generation shift as people grow up with robots and be more accustomed to them? Or does it not even matter because they will gradually creep into our lives and become integral parts without us even realizing it (like with computers)?

I think people are fully justified in being a little anxious about robots becoming more and more integrated into our society because it gives us the feeling that we are losing control. And in a way we are. While too much fear will just cause panic, a healthy skepticism of robots is useful because we will always be cautious when we interact with them. In this way we'll always be prepared for the unpredictable, and our psyche's won't be too scarred from the shock. While you shouldn't start building your underground safehouse, I don't think that we should ever put 100% of our faith in robots.
