What you gonna do when the public comes for you
If a human makes a mistake, like performs a war crime on the battlefield, people get angry, but they expect mistakes. When a robot makes a mistake, especially when they injure humans, people get much more upset and can protest if this happens too much. Should we then blame someone to satisfy the people or because first generation mistakes are unavoidable do we just keep going and ignore them? Is there anything else we can do?

Robots make mistakes too
Well, the fact of the matter is that robots, no matter how good they are at their job, will make a mistake at some point. People do exactly the same thing, and yes, the public gets mad, but they are forgiven. Why should this be any different from robots? They'll make a mistake and people will get upset, it's not something punishable because in a lot of cases accidents happen. It's not always someone's fault. If anything, people should be held to a higher standard of responsibility for their actions than robots because people can second guess their actions. Robots can't. At least, not yet they can't. Both people and robots make mistakes. People get mad, they forgive, and they move on with their lives.

I agree that we cannot expect robots to not make mistakes. But the point is that people do not always act logically, and past events have shown that if non-human things harm humans, people get extremely angry and want whatever it was shut-down (with exceptions of course). Even though we can say mistakes are going to happen, just live with it and it will get better, people may not listen. And if people demand something, it is very hard for the government and/or businesses not to listen. So what can we do about that?
